Couldn't have said it better myself

Only a day away from the Election, and things are heating up. It almost seems pretty rare to go somewhere and not hear people talking about why “Mitts the tits” or who Obama is awesome and deserves a 2nd term. COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to watch a music video or some other satirical video on YouTube without having to sit through a mudslinging “He voted for this, he ignored that” Advertisement.  If you don’t vote for this guy, the country’s doomed. Blah blah blah. It’s almost impossible to tell exactly what a candidate stands for now-a-days just because every commercial or ad you see completely slanders the other candidate and their policies. The following is a quote of what my brother wrote on his Facebook, but completely describes how I feel about our government.
“I'm a bit tired of explaining why I didn't vote this past election, so here's my stance on the matter and I'll just leave it at that.

I don’t vote on the presidential elections because changing our president doesn’t fix any of the inherent problems of the government. Congress and Senate both still operate on an ineffective black and white, two-party system that effectively prevents any real progress. Additionally, between the presidential, senatorial, and congressional races, both parties spent over $6 billion this election. Where do you think most of that money came from? It came from large corporations sponsoring candidates. This means continued corporate influence in government regulation, and more policies that bend us over in favor for these billion dollar companies. It doesn’t matter who is president, the way our government is ineptly structured right now, it just allows for corruption and small glimmers of progress every decade or so. How is the presidential election so focused on issues like gay marriage and abortion? It’s the 21st century, the answers to these questions have long been established to the educated half of the population. Why aren’t they focused on issues like advancing science and education, taking corporate sponsorships out of political campaigns, removing the reigns of our economy away from a small handful of the population, and increasing green technology and ways to stop selling out the environment for big business. Why aren’t we discussing the real issues that can actually propel the country to the next level in this modern age? Instead, certain candidates and the corporate-fueled media have people distracted from the real issues, and have us focused on why it should still be legal to withhold rights from certain kinds of citizens. And unfortunately, most of America is too ignorant and uninformed to know any better. So they will elect a candidate who, even if they wanted to, is unable to make anything more than a few minuscule changes due to the blind and corrupted congressional pawns of the two-party system, and the same inherent problems of America will remain untouched. And when shit hits the fan, everybody acts surprised and blames it on the President, when in reality; it’s simply the inefficient workings of our government coming to fruition. So that’s why I didn't vote in the past Presidential election.”

  1. I agree that there is no truth anymore in these debates and elections. I also agree that the people of our country believe that one man, the president has far more influence on our country and economy than he really does.

  2. The President can't really do anything with Congress to back him up, so if the President and Congress represent different things, practically nothing will get done. But luckily, I have ad block so I don't have to watch all those political campaigns.
